Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride Varnish
The Nursing staff at JCHD are trained to perform oral health risk assessments, visual oral cavity inspections, and applications of fluoride varnish to the teeth of children from time of tooth eruption up to age 6 years, as often as every 3-4 months.
Staff will first obtain written consent of parent or guardian for such services. Parents will receive instruction on proper dental/oral hygiene and other caries prevention strategies. Risk assessment, oral screening and anticipatory guidance, as well as varnish application will be documented and records retained. Care will be taken not to duplicate services already received elsewhere. Importance of a dental home will be stressed and referrals to same will be made.
Medicaid and Private insurances are billed for this service.
