Community commons is a place where data, tools, and stories come together to inspire change and improve communities. This website provided public access to thousands of meaningful data layers that allow mapping and reporting capabilities so you can thoroughly explore community health. 


The Census

In the census you will find information about our residents such as population demographics, language spoken in our homes, level of education, and much more. You will also find some quick facts about the business in our county. 


The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)

The BRFSS is the nation’s premier system of health-related telephone surveys that collect state data about U.S. residents regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use preventive services. The BRFSS completes more than 400,000 adult interviews each year, making it the largest continuously conducted health survey system in the world.

Provides easy access to selected public health indicators, by county or community, for assessment and planning purposes.


IDPH-Health Statistics

The state health department gathers a variety of data throughout the entire state. 


The Illinois State Cancer Registry (ISCR)

The only population-based source for cancer incidence information in Illinois. Cancer cases are collected through mandated reporting by hospitals, ambulatory surgical treatment centers, non-hospitals affiliated radiation therapy treatment centers, independent pathology labs, dermatologist and through the voluntary exchange of cancer patient data with other (mostly nearby) states.


SIH Cancer Institute 

The region’s only comprehensive cancer treatment center, and serves as a single site for state of the art convenient and compassionate cancer treatment.

A web-based data query system for collecting and disseminating public health data.

CHRR allows nationwide comparison of counties with similar population based on key demographic, social, and economic indicators.
