Death Certificates

According to the Illinois Vital Records Act, the local registrar may provide a certified copy of death record to a duly authorized agent (includes heirs, children, spouse, administrators, executor, attorney for estate) having a personal or property right/interest in the death.

Death records from 2008 to present are available at JCHD. For death records prior to 2008, contact the Jackson County Clerk’s office Jackson County Circuit Clerk at 618-687-7360 or the Vital Record Division of the Illinois Department of Public Health at 217-782-6554 or 217-782-6553.
