Did you know that only one in five Americans get enough exercise to maintain good health?  The Jackson County Health Department is committed to helping residents increase their levels of physical activity. Efforts include hosting and/or participating in community events that promote physical activity, encouraging agencies and worksites to promote physical activity in their settings, and supporting changes in the physical environment to make physical activity an easy choice. The American Heart Association has issued recommendations for physical activity amongst adults and children (https://www.heart.org/en/healthy-living/fitness/fitness-basics/aha-recs-for-physical-activity-in-adults), including information on amounts, types and intensity levels of physical activity. Below are additional resources that will help you get more active in southern Illinois.
