The Diabetes Resource Guide was developed by the Diabetes Today Resource Team to help you reduce your risk of diabetes or help you manage your diabetes. Most of these resources are for Jackson County or surrounding counties in Illinois. For more information on dental, eye, foot and wound care, certified diabetes educators and physicians-diabetes specialists (Endocrinologists) in the area, check out the 2020 Diabetes Guide.
Currently, there are free 6-week workshops available to anyone with or caring for someone with diabetes or other chronic health conditions. Chronic conditions include: arthritis, heart disease, asthma, lung disease, diabetes, emphysema, Parkinson's, etc. You will learn strategies to meet your nutritional and physical activity needs, to build effective relationships with your primary care provider, to manage your medications, and to deal with the physical and emotional effects of managing these conditions.
