Solid Waste Management Plan
JACKSON COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN
Jackson County's Solid Waste Managment Plan is required by the Solid Waste Planning and Recycling Act. The Act, which went into effect in 1989, requires counties to implement solid waste managment plans designed to recycle 15% of the waste generated in their boundaries within three years of plan implementation, and 25% within five years of implementation. Plans are required to address the county's waste management needs over a twenty year period, with plan updates being made every five years.
Jackson County's Solid Waste Management Plan was initially adopted on August 1996 and has been updated every 5 years. The updated plan is to be submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency by September 2016.
